You saying yes to the water play was really wholesome. I'm a mum to a 7 year old and a 10 month old, and honestly, my approach is, "save my 'no's' for the things that really matter." For example, "can I run down the street without holding your hand?" No. "Can I eat nothing but sweets all day?" No, absolutely not. But, "can i get wet in these clothes?" Go for it! "Can I paint?" Of course. "Can I wear these sandals that absolutely do not match my outfit whatsoever?" Yes, yes, yes. It's not about "spoling out children" and yes, some extra work does come with saying yes. But actually, it's so much easier. My kids know I have very clear boundaries when it comes to safety, etc. And they behave beautifully when we're out and about, and at home, to be fair. Saying yes has dramatically impacted my 7 year olds behaviour in a positive way. She no longer aniticpates that I'll just say no to everything, just because, and in turn, she says yes so much more!!! "Will you please finish up that brocolli?" Sure... "Will you please wear your raincoat?" Yep! I encourage everyone to give it a go. It changes everything.

How old were you when you had him? I’m pushing 39, how much harder was it later? I think you’re younger than me. Do you think you had postpartum anxiety? I get overstimulated too from toys and mess, but it’s really hard to keep it all picked up! My husband cleans it this weekend and it helped so much. I get like that with noise too, I wonder if it’s an anxiety thing.

Wow these comments are harsh. There was a study conducted on babies up until the age of 6 years old who were sleep trained vs those who were not and there were no issues of attachment, depression, or any other issues. There was however a positive impact on post partum depression. Please be kind to mothers

Sleepovers. 😅 oof. This seems to be a sensitive topic when I explain to people that I won’t be allowing my kids to attend any of these.

My daughter never gets out of bed. I don't know why. I'm happy it's like that, though.

My daughter took off walking at 13 months, after visiting 2 sets of grandparents and moving. She hadn't had a chance to practice walking for almost 2 months. When we were settled and had a minute, she just took off walking with no practice. 😮

I'm really happy that you tried to be the yes mom with water play. My pastor preached on this recently. Switching to a slightly more positive answer for our family and others can be amazing. That doesn't mean I never say no, or I'll have to think about it. ❤

I completely agree with what you were saying about going out & putting in time & effort for how you look and feel. taking 15min to put on a tiny bit of makeup, do your hair, & put real clothes on really does something! you are WINNING. the happiness beams from you

...when my daughter travels wit the kids, the kids each have a carry on suitcase- and their clothes go in there. At ages 6 and 8, they r responsible for picking out their own items. Then they each have a backpack for any toys, coloring, stuffies, etc that they want to bring along. That's it. I think Riley is old enough to pick her items and u could do it with Jackson. You could also have a carry on for Sean and also fill a backpack with some toys for him. I realize you will also have to have a diaper bag for him. Maybe consider that.

I remember the NC vlogs! I’ve binged and re-binged your videos during my postpartum/newborn phase for both of my children. Your DITL vlogs basically became my comfort show! 😆 I think you mentioned it in another video, but it’s been so fun seeing the evolution of your family and you as their mother. Your DITL vlogs are so different now, but all in a good way. You are definitely in your busy mom season! 😅

Yes, please make the “NO mother”video. I’ve been feeling that lately. I go to bed feeling such guilt and anguish that my kids will think of me as the grinch 😩 I tell my husband I don’t want them to see me como una amargada. Thanks for the video Kayla. Amen! Being a mom is such an amazing God given role but it’s not ALL that we are. We are wives, Christ followers, friends etc. Motherhood can become an idol. That mom group sounds so helpful. Connecting deeply with other women and moms is so good. Also, I love that you love Joe. Healthy marriages are rare and enjoying time together is so important. I love being with my husband and it makes me sad to see friends who don’t even like their husband.

It’s hard to find a community when you’re a busy mom but Very Good Mother’s Club has been life changing for me. We talk about EVERYTHING and no one is judging. You are met with love and support. I love your ideas. Just not sure about the sand and pebbles. Are they nontoxic? I used to work in a preschool and the sand we used was a specific brand that was made for children. We couldn’t buy any other brand.
